“Exploration of Living Systems: Analysis at High Spatial and Temporal Resolution”
The PTL HiLight organized a collective brainstorming session on January 14, 2025, at Genopolys. The goal of the session was to exchange ideas and reflect on the PTL HiLight, which is dedicated to the exploration of living systems—specifically, high-spatial- and high-temporal-resolution analysis—and to work together to address the challenges of this theme and collaborate on the development of multidisciplinary projects!
There was very positive feedback on the event and the presentations, with active audience participation. Participants appreciated the effort to bring the community together, as they are interested in different approaches to imaging.
Several suggestions emerged during the roundtable discussions. All of these ideas are being considered by the HiLight PTL.
| Topics Covered | Requests | Answers |
|---|---|---|
's distribution of funds: | Offer smaller grants to reach more beneficiaries. | A reminder of the objective, which is to fund projects with a significant impact. Adjustments based on feedback from the first call for proposals. |
's funding for theses and master's degrees: | Proposal to fund inter-institutional Master 2 programs ( ) and a 4th-year doctoral program ( ) | Funding for the Master 2 program will be reviewed in 2026 for the upcoming call for proposals. Funding for the 4th year of the thesis program runs counter to the spirit of the PTL, which prioritizes higher-risk projects. |
| Funding for interdisciplinary projects : | Clarify whether interdisciplinary projects (e.g., BS/Chemistry) will be funded (with another PTL) | Changes to the AAP in 2026 for : funding between 2 PTLs |
's expectations of the community: | Expectations are focused primarily on the expansion of microscopy and super-resolution. This raises questions about the focus of the first call on “living systems” | The 2025 Call for Proposals (AAP) remains in effect at as planned. Updates regarding the 2026 Call for Proposals ( ) will be provided based on the applications. |
| Evaluation of the case : | Questions regarding the selection of evaluators : whether they should be external, French , or not. Concerns regarding the risk of having ideas stolen if the evaluators are external, as well as regarding the role of the COPIL in the selection process. | The selection of evaluators is currently underway. |
| Visibility and Collaboration- : | Create a web page or a small website to increase the visibility of researchers interested in the PTL, especially young researchers. Provide a section where experimental and technological needs can be expressed and foster collaborations. | In progress. |
| Distribution of information on : | Issue with the delivery of PTL email s | Information is posted on the Pôle BS+ “ ” mailing lists, on the PTL website ( ), and on the UM website. |
